Just read
here that there are over 600 characters in War and Peace. Hopefully this is a guide to the most substantial that Tolstoy introduces. Beware,
there may be spoilers in the character descriptions or family tree.

600! Insane! My goal is to find one that I just really love, and hang on to that one. These character lists will be really helpful to keep me from taking notes on all of them and making myself miserable (that's what I did last time I tried to read this one).
ReplyDeleteBonus fun! Depending on your edition, the names may be slightly different. Andrew is Andrey, for example; and some study guides refer to titles while others refer to first names, and still others refer to last names. Jerrod, what an adventure you've set us upon! :)
ReplyDelete600? Really? Why do I feel I should just go purchase cliff notes now? I admit, I have never used them before, but still feeling very intimidated by this book.
ReplyDeleteJust came across this footnote: "1 . Natasha Rostova, the most important female character in War and Peace." Someone for us to watch in the early pages.
ReplyDeleteFound this page: "10 key places from Tolstoy’s War and Peace on a map." Enjoy!
